THE ASIA PACIFIC IRELAND BUSINESS FORUM

The Asia Pacific Ireland Business Forum (APIBF) was held in Shanghai once again this November. It coincides with the Asian Gaelic Games, bringing together Irish business people, people doing business with Ireland and friends of Ireland in the dynamic Asia-Pacific & Gulf Regions, including through a networking reception organised by the Irish Chamber in Shangahi. Since its inception, annual events have taken place in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok. The APIBF focuses on building connections and facilitating trade and learning between Chambers of Commerce, GAA Clubs, individuals and business groups based in the Asia-Pacific & Gulf Regions.

The 2016 Forum had a specific focus on Irish business opportunities in Asia, the possible implications for Ireland of Brexit and the impending negotiations between the UK and the EU, as well as the resulting need for Ireland to trade up and deepen political, economic and other relationships with key markets such as China/Asia. Speakers included economic, media and political experts from across the region as well as representatives from the corporate and sporting world who shared their insights on doing business in the unique Asia Pacific business environment.
